Man Accused of Assault Following Altercation at Texas Pool Party

When an incident occurs in an area where there are hundreds of people present, it may be difficult to determine exactly what happened or who may have been responsible. Despite this, a man in Texas is now facing an assault charge after police say that he was involved in a shooting. The incident reportedly happened at a student apartment complex.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in late April. According to reports, over 200 people were at the pool of the complex. Reports indicate that the 24-year-old man now facing criminal charges was walking by the pool when he was splashed as a result of a water gun fight.

According to witnesses, one of the alleged victims, a 19-year-old man, attempted to diffuse the situation. However, the defendant is accused of pulling out a gun and firing. The younger man is considered to be in “satisfactory” condition while the woman — who reportedly fled the scene after the shooting — suffered only minor injuries. Though the man denied being the person involved in the shooting, police claim that they matched his picture with surveillance footage from the incident; he turned himself in soon after.

As a result of the incident, the man is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury. Unfortunately, witness accounts of an incident can be inaccurate, and surveillance footage does not always provide clear footage. To help the Texas man fully understand and respond to the accusations he is facing, he may choose to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to help him make informed decisions.
