Father Faces Weapons, Drug Possession Charges in Texas

Anyone who has driven with small children likely knows of the distractions that they can create. However, most parents are committed to doing everything they can to meet the needs of their children and protect their safety. Despite this, a man in Texas now faces multiple charges, including drug possession, after he was stopped by police.

The traffic stop that led to the man’s arrest reportedly happened on a day in January. According to reports, the 29-year-old father traveled to Texas to pick up his young children. He was driving them to live with him in another state.

Reports indicate that the man stopped in a Walmart parking lot after police attempted to pull  him over on the interstate. It is unclear what prompted officers to initiate a stop. However, law enforcement officials claim that they discovered marijuana, vials of liquid THC and other drug paraphernalia with the help of a police K-9. A gun that had also been reported stolen was reportedly discovered in the vehicle. He was arrested, and the young children turned over to Child Protective Services; their mother is expected to reclaim them.

As a result of the incident, the man now faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana and THC, endangering a child and possession of a stolen firearm, among others. Now he is left facing several decisions that will likely alter the rest of his life. Unfortunately, he may feel unprepared to make these decisions as many people in Texas do who face criminal charges but have little legal experience. Fortunately, there are professionals who can help people facing similar charges fully understand their options and choose the most appropriate one for their unique circumstances.
