Texas Man Faces Possession Charges After Complaint, Traffic Stop

An interaction with police can be an overwhelming experience for many people in Texas. Simply because of the authority that police officers have, some people may be unsure how to respond to certain requests, including requests for information. Fortunately, help from a legal professional with experience with drug possession charges and other crimes may be able to help a man respond to the accusations he faces following his recent arrest.

Reports indicate that the man first came to the attention of police after they received a complaint about “possible illegal drug activity” one day in mid-October. The details of that complaint are unclear. As a result of it, however, police initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man.

Police say that as they conducted the stop, they discovered that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and had outstanding warrants related to traffic violations. Police claim that they discovered just under 90 Xanax tablets in his possession, a small safe and a gun. Reports indicate that police found drugs and items believed to be related to distribution in the safe.

The man now faces multiple charges as a result, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Unfortunately, the consequences of a conviction could be severe. To fully understand his options and their potential outcomes, he may choose to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney in Texas. With such help, he could feel more prepared to make the critical decisions that he is facing.
