When a person is assaulted or an assault is attempted, police often want to quickly provide reassurance to the community that no threat to personal safety remains. Regardless of law enforcement claims, those accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proved otherwise. In fact, two Texas men who were recently arrested in connection to an alleged robbery are now likely wondering about their legal options.
The incident that led to the men’s arrest happened around noon on a day in early July. According to reports, the two men went to an apartment complex where they allegedly pointed a gun at a resident; however, police say that the two defendants realized they were in the wrong apartment and left. It is unclear for whom police think the men were looking. They are accused of then robbing a construction worker nearby.
Police report that, when the alleged victim refused to give the men his wallet as they reportedly demanded, they struck his head with a gun. The men were said to have been identified after police released surveillance photos to the media. They are both charged with burglary of a habitation and aggravated robbery.
Unfortunately, the criminal justice system is complex. Those facing accusations of robbery, assault and other criminal allegations in Texas are often unsure about what the best course of action may be for their unique circumstances. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help guide them throughout the process, ensuring that they are fully aware of all of their options and the potential consequences of each.
